It wasn't all that long ago that Wisconsin could stake its claim as one of best teams in the country when it came to producing elite running back talent.
Former Badger stars like Montee Ball, James White, Melvin Gordon and Jonathan Taylor gave Wisconsin a legitimate argument to be called "RBU".
It's been some time since Wisconsin fans could be overly excited about another elite running back talent but their star of the 2027 recruiting class could be the long-awaited spark.
Notre Dame Academy (Wisconsin, WI) four-star running back Kingston Allen is the nation's leading rusher through the first three full weeks of the high school football season with 911 yards on 84 carries. In back-to-back wins, Allen rushed for 450 or more yards.
According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-0, 195-pound future Badger is the No. 150 overall prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 7 running back and No. 1 player out of Wisconsin. Allen entered the year as a USA TODAY Sports ALL-USA Midwest Region preseason first team selection and was a third-team selection on the ALL-America national team.
Allen became the Tritons' full-time starter last season and quickly established himself as one of the nation's best running back prospects. He led Notre Dame to a 13-1 record and state championship appearance, rushing for 3,436 yards and 57 touchdowns on 356 carries.
The Tritons have been involved in back-to-back high-scoring games to kick off the 2026 season. They opened the season with a 56-53 win over Neenah with Allen rushing for 458 yards and seven touchdowns on 38 carries.
Last week they once again leaned heavily on him in a 35-28 win over Kaukauna. Allen rushed for 453 yards and scored all five of the Tritons' touchdowns in the win.
This week Wisconsin fans will not only be waiting in anticipation for the Badgers' season-opener against Notre Dame at Lambeau Field, but also to see if Allen can keep his streak of 450-plus yard performances going.
Notre Dame Academy hosts Manitowoc Lincoln in its first conference game of the season. Last season the Tritons rolled to a 42-7 victory in this game, but Allen was limited to his lowest rushing total of the season, finishing with 53 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
