It’s the first day of early signing period, but it isn’t coming at an ideal time for Memphis football.
The Tigers are without a full-time head coach following the departure of Ryan Silverfield to Arkansas. The current staff has spent the past few days trying to hold the current recruiting class together, but Memphis obviously lost recruiting momentum when Silverfield left.
Memphis has had some players decommit since Silverfield left. But the current Tigers’ staff still expects to sign a good amount of its committed class starting Dec. 3.
The Commercial Appeal is tracking all of Memphis’ signees throughout the day.

As of Dec. 2, Memphis has the No. 62 ranked recruiting class in the country. That’s second in the American Conference behind USF.
When is early signing day?
The early signing period starts on Dec. 3 and lasts until Dec. 5. The regular signing period is in February.
When does the transfer portal open?
The transfer portal will open for FBS schools on Jan. 2 and will be open until Jan. 16. Even though Memphis will have a coaching change, the portal will not officially open for Tigers’ players until Jan. 2.
