The Miami Hurricanes are staying busy in the recruiting field, as the program managed to beat out the Tennessee Volunteers and the Auburn Tigers for a big quarterback commitment. It’s an acquisition that potentially gives the Hurricanes a talented quarterback in 2028.

Reports indicate that quarterback recruit Knox Annis chose to commit to Miami on Thursday, per Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports and Rivals. Annis opted to remain in his home state, as he is from Jacksonville, Florida.

“BREAKING: Class of 2028 QB Knox Annis has Committed to Miami, he tells me for Rivals,” reported Fawcett. “The 6’3, 205 lbs QB from Jacksonville, FL chose the Hurricanes over Tennessee and Auburn.”

“All Glory to God,” stated Annis after committing to Miami.

Knox Annis currently attends Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He is currently a three-star quarterback according to Rivals’ Industry Ranking system. Annis will be a high school junior by the start of the 2026-27 season. He has plenty of time to develop as a quarterback prospect and could improve his rankings down the road.

This is the second big quarterback commitment that Miami has landed this offseason, as top prospect Israel Abrams also committed to the Hurricanes. Abrams is a four-star prospect who is considered the No. 2-ranked quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class.

Although head coach Mario Cristobal has favored more experienced options through the transfer portal in recent history (Cam Ward in the 2024-25 season, Carson Beck in the 2025-26 season), he still manages to land some of the top high school recruits to the program. Miami is expected to start Darian Mensah in the 2026-27 campaign, who transferred from Duke.
