Miami (FL) star DL reponds to Texas A&M players' recent comments

With just two days left before Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) hosts Miami (10-2) in the first round of the College Football Playoff, nearly every key player for both teams, including Hurricanes star defensive end Rueben Bain, spoke to the media in preparation for the matchup, which will likely be the most competitive game of the weekend outside of Alabama vs. Oklahoma on Friday night.

Bain, who is expected to be a top 10 selection in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft, responded to Texas A&M starting left tackle Trey Zuhn’s early comment regarding the standout pass rusher, stating, “I don’t think he’ll be a threat we need to worry about too much.” While this was undoubtedly a bold statement by the senior, Zuhn finished the regular season as the highest-rated pass protector (Pro Football Focus) and has surrendered only one sack on the year.

While the Miami fan base had quite the field day with this quote, Rueben Bain, who is as professional as they come, responded with a cryptic yet respectful rebuttal, knowing that any pre-game talking is meaningless before battling on the field.

“God bless those guys. They’re just playing football the way they play it.”

This will likely be a battle in the trenches, as the Aggie pass rush needs to disrupt quarterback Carson Beck and send pressure through the middle. In contrast, Texas A&M’s offensive line needs to continue protecting Marcel Reed in the pocket and allow him to go through his reads.

Texas A&M will host Miami on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with coverage on ABC and ESPN.
