Sears is the second-best recruit in Florida and the No. 11 overall recruit in the nation, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s one of the top recruits in the Hurricanes’ 2027 class, which is now ranked second in the country behind the Texas A&M Aggies, per 247Sports.

The Hurricanes are set to make another run at a national title this season after coming so close to winning it all last season. They got to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game before losing to the Indiana Hoosiers, 27-21.

The Hurricanes are also looking to win the ACC title this upcoming season after the Duke Blue Devils won it last year.

Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal is heading into his fifth season at the helm and has a 35-19 record over the last four seasons. The first two seasons of his tenure were a bit rocky, but he has done a much better job over the last two years.

We’re officially four weeks away from the start of the 2026 college football season, and the Hurricanes will open the year against the Stanford Cardinal on Sept. 4. Their first ACC game will be on Sept. 18 against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Kickoff for the Hurricanes-Cardinal contest will be at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
