Miami Hurricanes Flip 5-Star LSU Commit, Top-30 National Recruit

Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal got a little revenge on LSU head coach Lane Kiffin for poaching five-star transfer portal quarterback Sam Leavitt out from under him.

Cristobal and the Hurricanes convinced five-star edge-rusher Jaiden Bryant to flip his commitment from LSU to Miami on Wednesday.

Bryant is the latest in a hot streak of flips Miami has landed including five-star cornerback Donte Wright, who was previously committed to Georgia, and four-star cornerback Ai’King Hall, who was previously committed to Oregon.

Though Bryant gave a firm pledge to LSU, once he got on campus in Coral Gables, the Hurricanes swayed him to flip his commitment.

“[My visit] went great,” Bryant told Rivals. “Some highlights from this weekend were spending time with some of the guys and some of the players already on the team. I just had an all-around great time. I appreciated the way the coaches treated me and my family. I felt love here. I felt wanted.”

Bryant, the No. 4-ranked edge-rusher and the No. 28 overall recruit in the class of 2027 according to Rivals, is the third five-star commit in the Hurricanes’ ’27 class, which now ranks third in the country, along with Wright and wide receiver Nick Lennear.

Miami has also secured commitments from several other highly-regarded players including Hall (No. 11-ranked CB, No. 74 nationally), four-star quarterback Israel Abrams (No. 2-ranked QB, No. 44 nationally), and linebacker A.J. Randle Jr. (No. 6-ranked LB, No. 96 nationally).

With the Hurricanes returning a big chunk of the roster that made it to the national championship game last year, plus the additions of QB Darian Mensah and WR Cooper Barkate, plus sophomore phenom Malachi Toney and others, Miami is set up to contend for a national title next season and for years to come.
