One of the top playmakers in Florida is staying home.
Carol City 2027 wide receiver Nick Lennear announced his commitment to Miami at an event on March 5, and none in attendance were happier than Hurricane head coach Mario Cristobal.
The five-star pass catcher has long been a standout in Dade Country, as a sophomore at Miami Northwestern, he went for 121 yards and a touchdown on four catches and an interception in a blowout win over Raines in the Class 3A championship in 2024.
Lennear (6-foot, 165 pounds) tallied 381 yards and seven touchdowns on 20 catches through seven games as a junior at Miami Northwestern, and transferred to Carol City ahead of his senior campaign.
He’s ranked as the No. 3 wideout in the nation for the class of 2027 by the 247Sports Composite ranking, and named his hometown ‘Canes over a top-5 that included FSU, LSU, Texas A&M and Syracuse.
“All they have to do is keep winning and they’ll have a better of chance at getting Nick Lennear at Miami,” he told USA TODAY’s Florida Network in January.
Lennear becomes the marquee name in an already impressive Miami 2027 class all comprised of in-state commits, including McArthur’s Jaylyn Jones (four-star safety), Cardinal Gibbons’ Demarcus Deroche (four-star tight end), Chaminde-Madonna’s Ah’Mari Stevens (four-star WR) and Palm Beach Central’s Zaquan Linton (four-star offensive tackle).
