The Miami Hurricanes took a step in the right direction on Tuesday night, moving up to #15 in the College Football Playoff rankings after defeating Syracuse 38-10 last weekend.
While Miami still has room to go to get to the top 10, where they'd need to be as an at large selection, there is a clear path for them to make it to the playoff if they win out and get a bit of help, both with the ACC race and as an at large pick.
Miami Hurricanes' ACC championship rooting guide
Boston College over Georgia Tech: unlikely, but BC gave the Irish a fight a couple of weeks ago.
Duke over Virginia: both need to lose, but Duke still has two ACC road games left to trip up later.
Clemson over Louisville: the Cardinals are even with the Canes and have the head-to-head tiebreaker, while Clemson is below both teams. Self-explanatory.
Miami Hurricanes at large rooting guide
Pitt over Notre Dame: the Irish need to lose to be behind Miami in the final rankings if both teams finish 10-2, and the Canes could use the resume boost from a highly-ranked Pitt team. The choice is obvious here.
TCU over BYU: a possibility, given how much the Frogs have tormented BYU in recent years.
Baylor over Utah: game is in Waco, so while not likely, there's a punchers chance of an upset at home.
Georgia over Texas: loss number three should drop the Longhorns well down the rankings.
Alabama over Oklahoma: same for the Sooners against the Crimson Tide.
Minnesota over Oregon: don't count on this one, but the Ducks losing would set up a loser-is-out match with USC.
Iowa at USC: speaking of the Trojans, they could sneak by Miami at 10-2 in theory, so them losing would help.
Michigan at Northwestern: same situation if the Wolverines end up 10-2.
USF over Navy: Miami fans need to be the biggest Bulls fans the rest of the season, as USF in the playoff field would be a big boost to the Canes' resume.
