Micah Huff's predictions for how Trojan freshmen will fare in Game 1

The USCTrojans will give many promising freshmen a chance to make an impact in their collegiate debuts. This team will be fueled by talented freshmen. On Saturday, the Trojans will get a chance to see how good this team will be this year against San Jose State.

Here is how I think the four starting freshmen for USC will fare in their first game:

Trent Mosley

Trent Mosley will showcase what type of weapon he is in his debut on Saturday. I think he will get 3-4 catches and manage to get about 40-50 yards. He is an explosive playmaker, and the more times he gets the ball in his hands, the better. He will show flashes of being that big-time playmaker for USC. I would not be surprised if he returned a punt or kickoff for a touchdown as well.

Kayden Dixon-Wyatt

No Terrell Anderson in game 1, as it appears on the depth chart. That means more targets for a guy like Kayden Dixon Wyatt. There is a real shot for him to lead the Trojans in targets for this game. I think his debut will be special vs a lesser opponent. I see him finishing with a stat line of 7 catches for 80 yards. He will connect with Jayden Maiava early in the game, and when Jonas Williams enters the game, both freshmen will show a potentially lethal connection in the future.

Mark Bowman

As many hoped, Mark Bowman inserted himself as a top weapon for the Trojans and got the starting job as a freshman. Bowman, in game 1, I believe, will get involved early. I think he will finish with a stat line of 5 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. The freshman will find the end zone for the first time in his collegiate career and put the Big Ten on notice that the Trojans have an elite tight end.

Luke Wafle

Luke Wafle has been fantastic in camp, and his freshman campaign will start off with him being one of the starters. The ceiling is high for this young man, and it feels as if the Trojans finally have that game-changer off the edge this season. I think Wafle will display that in his debut by getting a sack and a couple of quarterback pressures. He will show just how much better this defensive line is this season with a force off the edge.

Who will have the biggest season in 2026?

Luke Wafle is already in a prime position to be the most impactful on defense in a position of great need for USC coming into this season. I think he will be a name that gets talked about a lot this year and a player that opposing teams game plan for. I think this year he finishes with at least 5 sacks, and there is a great chance he can overachieve this year big-time. He will be the most impactful freshman, and he will have the biggest season.
