Michigan football is off to a great start on the college football recruiting trail for the class of 2027. Kyle Whittingham and Michigan recently landed a four-star instate recruit, giving them seven signatures so far.
Now one of the biggest names available, the nation’s sixth-ranked recruit, is explaining why he is considering Michigan, per Ethan McDowell of On3.
“My mom’s an educator, so everything about Michigan, my mom just loves it,” five-star recruit Joshua Dobson said.
Michigan is the only non-SEC school in the mix for Dobson, who hails from North Carolina. The university has earned a spot on his tour of official visits because the school checks all of his boxes.
“The three big things— family environment, player development on and off the field, and I want to win,” Dobson said.
Dobson visited the university on April 16 with his grandmother and was left in shock by how much they both enjoyed it. Dobson is looking to major in business, so the school took him on a tour of the business school, while discussing the academic and professional opportunities provided by the school.
“The life after football is also a big piece for me and my family because they also take care of you after football, putting you with the right people and stuff like that,” Dobson said. “And that’s big. You can’t really get that anywhere else. There’s only a handful of schools that have that. That definitely meant a lot to me and my grandma.”
Dobson is expected to make a decision by mid-July, and Michigan is hoping to make another great impression on Dobson in hopes of landing the five-star prospect.
