Michigan Football benefits from bye week, moves up in AP Poll

Week 11 of the college football season did not feature a ton of AP-ranked matchups outside of the lopsided showdown between BYU and Texas Tech, but that did not mean everyone coasted by.

The Michigan Wolverines had their second and final bye week of the season. By sitting at home and watching things shake up from afar, the Wolverines saw No. 12 Virginia, No. 14 Louisville, No. 19 Missouri, No. 22 Memphis and No. 24 Washington all go down. That resulted in Michigan moving up three spots to No. 18 in the latest AP Poll.

As for the winners of the week, Ohio State and Indiana stayed undefeated, with Indiana beating Penn State with just seconds left on the clock. Texas A&M also stayed unbeaten by defeating Missouri on the road, while Oregon took down Iowa by a safety on the road in rainy conditions. Texas Tech and Vanderbilt put any rumors to bed of being frauds by handling business against BYU and Auburn, respectively.

Joining the rankings for the first time are Pittsburgh at No. 23 after being included in the College Football Playoff rankings despite being snubbed from the AP Poll last week, and James Madison at No. 24 after improving to 8-1 on the season.
