Michigan Football fans react to win over UTEP

The Michigan Wolverines won, convincingly, 52-17 against the UTEP Miners, but it wasn’t all pretty. The team struggled to hold onto the football, missed tackles, and, if we’re being generous, looked a little flat at the start.
About that first half
I mean, it really wasn’t great. The team got the ball into the red zone, then a nice Jordan Marshall run was negated because of a holding call. Then QB Bryce Underwood fumbled. Michigan didn’t look the part in the first half. Weren’t we all just wondering when they’d get it together?

Oh, look who decided to show up
The Wolverines got the field goal to end the first half and didn’t let off the gas once the second half started. Michigan scored four touchdowns and finally looked like a team that could compete in the Big Ten. That’s exactly what you want to see against an opponent like UTEP.

This defense is awesome
This defense looks like it can keep Michigan in every single game this year. The Wolverines are well coached and continue to play disciplined football.
This is the only week I’ve questioned their intensity, but that didn’t last long. When you’ve got a defensive line that’s getting pick-sixes, there’s a lot of hope moving forward.

Sure, they got off to a slow start, but once the train left the station, they kept that momentum going.

Michigan really did spread the ball out. WR Andrew Marsh had 10 catches, WR JJ Buchanan had seven, RB Jordan Marsahll had 12 carries, and RB Savion Hiter had 11. Underwood only had six rushes in this game. It was the definition of a team win, and the Wolverines will look to build on that momentum heading into their fourth game of the season.
Here’s what’s next
Finally, we got a look at some of the younger guys. Freshman DE Tariq Boney and freshman QB Tomy Carr both had a chance to show what they bring to the table. Boney ended with four tackles, including 1.5 TFLs and a sack. Carr was 2-of-2 for 23 yards and one TD.

Now the Wolverines get ready for the start of Big Ten play and the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Hawks aren’t your dad’s Iowa team this year. The defense is legit, as expected, but they’ve got some offense too. We’ll see how they do against Michigan’s defense on Saturday.
