After a successful weekend visit that resulted in earning a scholarship, 2027 three-star wide receiver Yuto Kawamura-Johnson has flipped his commitment from Toledo to Michigan.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder from Winter Garden, Florida committed to the Rockets back in June, but his recruitment took off again recently thanks to his senior year performance at West Orange High School. Up to this point, he has compiled 24 receptions for 575 yards (roughly 24 yards per catch) and seven touchdowns. He has also returned kicks and punts the last two seasons.

Kawamura-Johnson took a trip to Ann Arbor for the very first time for the Wolverines’ win over Penn State, and he even stayed through much of Sunday as well. He gave rave reviews to Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong ($).

“I’m really excited about the opportunity,” Kawamura-Johnson said after his visit. “Being able to play for Coach Whittingham and be a part of a program like Michigan is something special. I feel like it’s a great place to develop and compete at a high level. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited to see what the future holds!”

Other than Michigan and Toledo, Kawamura-Johnson also earned offers from Kentucky, Wake Forest, Louisville, UConn and others. Michigan State and West Virginia also expressed interest but did not offer, according to On3’s Ethan McDowell ($).

Kawamura-Johnson is the second wide receiver to commit to Michigan’s 2027 class, joining longtime four-star pledge Quentin Burrell.

Kawamura-Johnson is ranked No. 2,243 overall on Rivals Industry Ranking. Check out some of his top senior year highlights down in the video below.
