Michigan has fired head football coach Sherrone Moore, according to multiple reports, and has done so for cause. The news was first reported by ESPN, but has been followed up with a statement from Michigan Athletic Director, Warde Manuel.

According to the statement, Moore was fired after an investigation found that he had an inappropriate relationship with a Michigan staff member, which is a violation of University policy. Moore took over for former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who left the Wolverines for the NFL in the midst of an advanced sign-stealing investigation. Harbaugh was eventually given a 10-year show-cause.

Moore himself was suspended for two games as a result of the NCAA penalties resulting from the advanced-sign-stealing scandal, serving those at the beginning of this year. Moore was 16-8 at Michigan, including 2-1 vs. Ohio State.

This is a developing story, but we'll have more when it becomes available.
