Michigan continues to revamp its recruiting and personnel staff. Michigan recently added Dave Peloquin as general manager, and now it appears they have another addition that’s considered to be a huge get.
Per Steve Wiltfong of On3, Michigan is hiring Skylar Phan to the football front office.
Phan was director of recruiting strategy at USC. The Trojans had the No. 1-ranked 2026 recruiting class. Wiltfong noted that roles Phan could have at Michigan, such as overseeing all officials and unofficial visits, providing individual recruiting strategies, and building relationships with top targets and their families.
Wiltfong’s source called Phan “an up-and-coming superstar in the landscape.”
Before joining USC, Phan also held positions at Texas, North Texas, Houston, and an internship with the Las Vegas Raiders. The hiring of Phan pairs nicely with that of new GM Dave Peloquin. Peloquin, who was at Notre Dame at various positions for two decades, has strong Midwest ties, while Phan, along with many on Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham’s staff, has West Coast ties in the recruiting pipeline.
The reported hire seems great, especially if Phan can replicate the success she had at USC.
