Recruiting is fluid, and that includes those who are or have been committed for some time.

Michigan football went into Tuesday with six commitments in the 2027 class, with three having come in the past week. But it appears as if one of the longest-tenured pledges is going to seek an opportunity elsewhere.

2027 Southlake (Tx.) Carroll three-star interior offensive lineman Tristan Dare has been committed to the Wolverines since before the 2025 season had kicked off. Having pledged to Sherrone Moore, Grant Newsome, and the old staff, Dare initially stayed on when Kyle Whittingham was hired in late December.

However, according to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett, Dare is decommitting and will look for a new opportunity elsewhere.

Dare is the second former commit to depart the 2027 class, as quarterback Peter Bourque made a similar decision shortly after general manager Sean Magee and director of recruiting Sam Popper departed the program.

The Wolverines still have two offensive linemen pledged with Louis Esposito (son of former defensive line coach Lou Esposito) and newly-committed tackle Sidney Rouleau in the class.

Here are the current commitments:

  • Muskegon (Mich.) four-star edge rusher Recarder Kitchen (No. 113 overall, 13th EDGE, 4th in Michigan)
  • Bullard (Tx.) Brook Hill School four-star offensive tackle Sidney Rouleau (No. 377 overall, 36th OT, 51st in Texas)
  • Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park four-star safety Darrell Mattison (No. 410 overall, 38th S, 14th in Illinois)
  • Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial three-star athlete Maxwell Miles (No. 738 overall, 57th ATH, 5th in Nevada)
  • Saline (Mich.) three-star interior offensive lineman Louis Esposito (No. 959 overall, 61st IOL, 19th in Michigan)

With Dare having left the class, the Wolverines fall from the No. 16 ranking in the 247Sports team rankings to No. 20.
