The regular season did not finish as Michigan football intended it to finish, but there are reasons for optimism in Ann Arbor ahead of college football’s early signing period.
The Wolverines enter Wednesday with 27 committed players for the 2026 recruiting class, including two five-star commits and 13 four-star commits. Those commits include the No. 6 overall recruit in edge rusher Carter Meadows and the No. 1-ranked running back recruit in Savion Hiter.
According to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, Michigan comes into early signing day with the No. 11-ranked class in the nation, with USC (No. 1), Oregon (No. 4) and Ohio State (No. 5) the three Big Ten schools ranked ahead of it.
The Wolverines had the No. 7 recruiting class in 2025, with Belleville quarterback Bryce Underwood the No. 1 recruit in the nation. Underwood had somewhat of a disappointing first season as the Wolverines finished the regular season 9-3, losing handily to the three best teams on the schedule.
