Michigan football is going to have to wait for an official commitment from one of its top recruits.

Zion Robinson, a four-star wide receiver from Mansfield, Texas, posted on his Instagram story on Wednesday, Dec. 3, he’s “postponing signing until further notice” and that he would be releasing more details “shortly” instead of committing on the first day of early signing day.

When he will sign is unclear (though it’s expected sometime soon) as is where he will sign. According to The Wolverine, a number of home state schools TCU, Texas, SMU and Texas Tech are involved in his recruitment.

But perhaps the biggest player in this is Stanford, one of Robinson’s previous finalists before he verbally pledged to Michigan.

Robinson, at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, is rated No. 182 overall in 247 Sports’ composite rankings, is the No. 30 receiver in the country and No. 25 player in Texas. He has ties to the state − his father Khadevis, who was a two-time (2004, 2012) Olympic qualifier in the 800m, is currently the director of track & field in Fort Worth.

Zion Robinson recorded 47 catches for 823 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

Julian Walker signing day update

Elsewhere on the recruiting front, Michigan is working hard to lock in a commitment from four-star edge Julian Walker. The top-100 overall prospect, who pledged to the Wolverines over the summer, visited Ann Arbor this past weekend for the Ohio State game, but hometown South Carolina continues to push for his services.

Walker (Dutch Fork) will play in its 10th consecutive state championship game on Saturday and according to The Wolverine, Walker intends to make a decision before then. If he signs, he would be the Wolverines’ third-highest rated recruit in the class, graded as the No. 10 edge in America and No. 3 player in South Carolina.

The decision now, it seems, is can he move away from home? On3 reported if he does choose Ann Arbor, his mother will move with him to be nearby.

“I think we first will discuss what’s the best fit for me and where my heart really is,” Walker told On3. “The second thing we will discuss is how it affects our family. We have to ask ourselves— How does this decision affect our dynamic and can we make it work?

“I’m looking forward to taking the day to sit with my mom, dad, and uncle and make this decision. It’s an intense process, and I’m grateful and blessed to experience it, but I’m ready to get to the end of this process.”
