Today’s college football is kinda funny. Players can be at one school one minute, and then transferring to another school — sometimes in the same conference — the next minute.

That’s certainly the case for Michigan this year, as it will play against eight former Wolverines in 2026. Some of them transferred out this offseason, while others have already been at their new schools for a hot minute.

Here are the former Wolverines who will play against Michigan this season.

Week 1: Western Michigan RB Cole Cabana, OL Ben Roebuck, DB Micah Davis

Michigan will see not one, not two, but three old friends under the lights of The Big House in Week 1.

Cabana was a four-star recruit coming out of Dexter High School, but things just never clicked for him in Ann Arbor. He decided to enter the portal last year and take his talents down a level to the MAC. Unfortunately for him, he was only able to play in two games due to injury last season. Hopefully he is healthier this year and can still make an impact.

Meanwhile, Roebuck was only at Michigan for two seasons before transferring to Western Michigan this offseason. He played in just in two games for the Wolverines.

Finally, Davis — also a Dexter native — was a walk-on at Michigan prior to entering the portal a couple years ago before landing in Kalamazoo. He compiled an impressive 60 tackles, one tackle for loss, three pass breakups and one interception for the Broncos last year.

Week 2: Oklahoma LB Cole Sullivan

This one hurts. The Wolverines are in desperate need of linebacker depth heading into the new season, and their best returning option ended up hopping in the portal and transferring to a team that will face them in the second week of the season.

Sullivan flashed his high ceiling last year at Michigan, racking up 44 total tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one pass breakup and three interceptions as a sophomore. He will be a huge “what if” for the Wolverines if he takes his game up another level in Norman.

Week 8: Indiana WR Tyler Morris

The former Michigan wide receiver entered the portal after the 2024 season and committed to the Hoosiers. We all know Indiana went undefeated and won the national championship, so it was really unfortunate that Morris tore his ACL last spring and wasn’t able to play at all in 2025. Curt Cignetti and company will be hoping for a much healthier 2026 season for Morris, especially with a couple NFL departures at the position this offseason.

Week 10: MSU WR Fredrick Moore

Lol. Lmao even.

Not only did Moore enter the portal this offseason, but he decided to commit to the Michigan State Spartans of all teams. Have fun with that.

Moore had a relatively solid start to his college career, playing in 26 games across his first two years at Michigan. During that time, he racked up 15 receptions for 156 yards and one touchdown. But last season was a huge step back for him, only playing in four games (18 snaps on offense) and compiling zero stats. In other words, a decent addition for the Spartans, for their standards.

Week 12: UCLA WR Semaj Morgan

James backwards will be back at The Big House in late November. He had a decent true freshman season for the Wolverines back in 2023, but he regressed in a major way the last two seasons. His role offensively — and on special teams, for that matter — diminished greatly as the 2025 season went on. Morgan caught 20 passes for 223 yards and one touchdown last year, but what fans probably remember him for the most were his dropped passes — eight last season, per Pro Football Focus — and special teams mishaps.

Week 13: OSU CB Cameron Calhoun

Calhoun was a true freshman on Michigan’s national title-winning 2023 team. However, after that one year in Ann Arbor, he opted to enter the portal and commit to…Kyle Whittingham and the Utah Utes. He had a really good redshirt freshman season there, compiling 21 total tackles, nine pass breakups and one interception.

Calhoun parlayed that into yet another transfer, this time to Alabama. However, his time in Tuscaloosa was not as kind to him, as he only had six tackles and one pass breakup in 2025. He hopped in the portal yet again this winter and chose to play for the Buckeyes.
