Michigan football is in need of defensive backs, notably cornerbacks, with the attrition it's faced with the coaching changeover from Sherrone Moore to Kyle Whittingham.

The Wolverines lost freshman corner Elijah Dotson (though he has yet to choose a new school). Jayden Sanders, another freshman, committed to Notre Dame on Monday, ending hope that he could return. Zeke Berry had entered the transfer portal initially, but ended up withdrawing and returning to Ann Arbor.

But Michigan needs more viable options, and on Monday evening, it got one, its third transfer portal commitment of the day in Memphis defensive back Chris Bracy. Bracy is notably a safety and provides more depth to that room, which lost TJ and Tevis Metcalf, Jaden Mangham, and Brandyn Hillman to the portal.

In 2025, Bracy was third on the Tigers with 81 tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss. He had one interception last season, nine passes broken up, a forced fumble, and one quarterback hurry.

Bracy started his career at UAB before transferring to Memphis, and he has two years of eligibility remaining. He'll team up with Rod Moore, Mason Curtis, Jordan Young (who announced his return on Monday after entering the portal), Jacob Oden, and Kainoa Winston in the safety room.
