Fans of Michigan football stormed the field after defeating lowly Western Michigan. Michigan fans stormed the field after a second Hail Mary attempt by Bryce Underwood connected to win the game over Western Michigan, 13-12. It was highly controversial, as a second was added back on the clock, allowing Michigan to take a second Hail Mary attempt.
The fact that fans stormed the field is kind of crazy, though, as Michigan came into the game as nearly a four-touchdown favorite. With them being such a favorite, StatHole Sports has deemed it the saddest field storming of all time.

“I found 175 college football field storms since 2019. No team had a sadder storm field than Michigan (-27.5) last night and Michigan holds two of the three saddest field storms,” StatHole posted on X, formerly Twitter.
It is the biggest favorite to storm the field since 2019. Meanwhile, Michigan also stormed the field after beating Maryland as an 18-point favorite in 2023. Michigan won the game 31-24, but there were no end-of-game herotics in that one. The former owner of the saddest field-storming incident was held by Colorado in 2023, after they knocked off Colorado State as a 23-point favorite. Colorado needed double overtime to beat Colorado State in that game.
It is also the second time Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi has witnessed some sad field storming. He was on the losing end of the Colorado State game, being the starting quarterback for them. This year, he is the third-string quarterback for the Wolverines.
Michigan celebrated the win, but got lucky in the process. They will not get that lucky unless they play better against Oklahoma in Week 2.
