Marvin Nguetsop announced on X that Michigan State has officially put its hat in the ring, extending an offer to the massive defensive lineman.
The 6-foot-7.5, 268-pound defensive lineman is a towering presence. He plays high school football at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut, and is part of the 2027 recruiting class.
Per 247Sports, Nguetsop is currently rated as a three-star recruit. He ranks as the 56th-best defensive lineman in the 2027 class and the second-best defensive lineman coming out of Connecticut. Nationally, he ranks No. 540 overall in the class and carries a .8750 composite score according to 247Sports.
Andrew Ivins, 247Sports’ Director of Scouting, describes Nguetsop as a European defensive end with exceptional physical traits who has a chance to become a serious problem up front if everything comes together. Ivins notes that Nguetsop is still rather green from a technical standpoint, but he flashes the ability to dip and build speed while turning the corner. He lacks desired power at this stage, but can dart inside or outside and understands how to use his length to shield himself from blockers. Ivins adds that Nguetsop will likely need a few developmental semesters to get his body right as he soaks up coaching, but his ceiling is extremely high given how well he moves at his size.
During summer 2025 measurements, Nguetsop checked in at roughly 6-foot-7 and 245 pounds. More notably, he measured with 35.5-inch arms and a near seven-foot wingspan — eye-popping numbers that immediately jump off the page.
Nguetsop grew up in Cameroon and Germany, where he played multiple sports, including basketball and handball, before discovering football. He played for Germany’s U-20 squad with the Düsseldorf Panthers before eventually relocating to the United States. He transferred to St. Thomas More ahead of the 2025 fall season to continue his football development.

Michigan State is just the latest school to extend an offer to Nguetsop. The Spartans join a growing list that includes UCLA, Cal, Virginia Tech, Texas, Boston College, Colorado, Liberty, Ole Miss, Florida Atlantic, Miami (FL), Kansas, Michigan, Georgia, and Nebraska. His recruitment dates back to May of last year, and the list continues to grow as more programs take notice of his rare frame and athletic upside.
Head coach Pat Fitzgerald has done a strong job so far retooling — or in his words, rebirthing — the Spartans program. Fitzgerald has already landed notable prospects such as Kayd Coffman and Samson Gash and has been especially active with the 2027 class. He and his staff have spent significant time on the road visiting prospects at their schools, laying the groundwork for the program’s future success.
Michigan State is beginning to carve out an identity that looks poised to become the staple of Spartans football: smash-mouth, ground-and-pound, kick-your-teeth-in style play. It’s an approach that naturally attracts big bruisers and gap maulers up front. Win in the trenches, control field position, and dominate time of possession, and you put yourself in position to be a dangerous team — especially in the Big Ten. You don’t need a flashy, high-scoring offense if you can consistently play smart football behind a punishing offensive and defensive line.
Nguetsop fits that vision perfectly. With his size, length, and developmental upside, he has the potential to become an anchor up front and a true point-of-attack defender. He has plenty of options and time to make his decision, but Michigan State is firmly in the mix — and the hope is that one day soon, this man-child will be suiting up in the Green and White.
