Another commitment domino has fallen in favor of Michigan State, as the Spartans look to shape their roster together for the 2026 season. The Spartans have officially landed linebacker transfer Caleb Wheatland.

Wheatland, a former Maryland linebacker, he transferred to Auburn for one season, and will now be rounding out his career at Michigan State. A 6-foot-1, 230 pound linebacker from Centreville, Virginia, he will bring one year of eligibility with him to East Lansing.

In his three seasons with Maryland, Wheatland compiled 100 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. At Auburn, in one season, he only got one tackle in three games. It is unclear what went wrong in his tenure with the Tigers, but the Spartans will look to get him to return to his Terrapins form.
