Michigan State hosts Indiana basketball Tuesday night. Spartans coach Tom Izzo believes his team has a challenge against the Hoosiers.
He noted IU led Nebraska by 16 points over the weekend, though the Cornhuskers rallied to win.
More than anything, Izzo is glad this isn’t a football matchup.
“Indiana is a football school now, but it’s a basketball school, too,” Izzo said. “When you think of the Big Ten, Indiana’s one of the first names you think about, and deservedly so. They’ve earned the right to do that over the years.
“We’re not playing their football team, thank God.”
The No. 1 football Hoosiers (15-0) play No. 10 Miami (13-2) in the College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday, Jan. 19.
“We’re not playing the (Indiana) football team, thank god.”
Tom Izzo still has a special connection to Indiana, and he’ll try to lead Michigan State to another victory over the Hoosiers, but this time against first-year head coach Darian DeVries.
