Apparently, Michigan has an interesting game next week.
Yeah, the world is already focusing on the showdown with Ohio State, and for good reason. If the Wolverines win this, and then win that, they might not be in the Big Ten Championship, but at 10-2 with a win over the No. 1 team, they should be in the College Football Playoff.
But again, that’s not happening without a win over Maryland.
The Terps have hit a bit of a snag.
They started 4-0, lost the last six, and now they’re fighting for their bowl game lives. If they win this, they have to beat Michigan State in Detroit next week to get to six wins.
There’s one problem – Michigan is 11-1 in the series, with the lone loss coming in 2014.

Why Michigan Will Win
The Maryland offense hasn’t exactly stalled, but it’s not cranking it up like it should.
The running game has been way too hit or miss. Malik Washington is a talent, but the young quarterback hasn’t been accurate enough.
Combine that with a slew of turnovers over the last several games, and the attack has to be far sharper against a Michigan defense that’s among the best in the country against the run and, overall, is allowing under 300 yards per game.
Why Maryland Will Win
Seriously, how focused will the Wolverines be?
This is the appetizer game before the main course for Michigan, but it has to deal with a Maryland team that, despite the three Big Ten losses, has been a tough out at home.
About that focus, the Wolverines won, but they turned it over five times last week against Northwestern after giving it up twice the week before in the way-too-tight game against Purdue.
The Terp defense is too leaky, but it takes the ball away with ten in the last five games. It’ll need every stop it can get, and the offense has to take advantage of every opportunity because …

It’s been good all year, but it took things up a few notches over the last few weeks. The team is 7-0 when running for multiple scores.
Maryland has only allowed more than one rushing touchdown once – giving up four against Indiana – but the D is getting ripped apart on the ground.
The Wolverines will run for at least two touchdowns. And then it’s time to go to work.
