The Texas A&M Aggies just had the best offensive line in college football last season, and they very well could have that again very soon.

The Texas A&M Aggies have been killing it in recruiting, specifically in the 2027 recruiting class. They’re currently ranked No. 1 in Rivals’ rankings and No. 2 in 247 Sports’ rankings. However, Oklahoma, the No. 1 team, has 7 more commits than TAMU.

There’s an early trend here with the 2027 class. If you notice, head coach Mike Elko has opted for a similar plan to the one he used in 2026. Texas A&M had the best offensive line in the country last year, and yet it was one of their best seasons ever. So, maybe, just maybe, they should do something similar again?

It seems they have that in mind-build through the trenches. This week, they landed the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2027 class in Mark Matthews. He’s also the No. 3 player in the class.

Mathews can end up being one of the best players the Aggies have had in some time. He’s got the perfect length at the position, amazing footwork, and his strength is bar-none at his age. There’s not much, if anything, he can’t do at his age.

Matthews is elite, and really, he has the tools and traits to start year one if the Aggies needed it from him. Luckily, they probably won’t need that from him, barring any injuries. Either way, TAMU is doing things their way, the way they have seen success in the SEC.

The Aggies are building in the trenches relentlessly.

It’s the SEC, you have to win in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. The Aggies have focused on that for the last few years, and continue to do so in the 2027 recruiting class.

Eight of the Aggies’ 14 total commits so far will play in the trenches, and not one of them is a four-star. Elko has a system in place, and he’s going to follow it to the letter.
