Eric Morris has added another accomplished offensive mind to Oklahoma State's revamped coaching staff. Former Mississippi State and Washington quarterback Will Rogers has joined the Cowboys as an offensive analyst, Morris revealed Tuesday.

Rogers is just beginning his coaching career, but he arrives in Stillwater with one of the most productive résumés of any former quarterback entering the profession. Across five college seasons, Rogers threw for 14,773 yards and 108 touchdowns while playing four seasons at Mississippi State before finishing his career at Washington.

He remains Mississippi State's all-time leader with 12,315 career passing yards, nearly 3,000 more than Dak Prescott, who ranks second with 9,376. Rogers also owns the Bulldogs' career record with 94 touchdown passes, 24 more than Prescott. His 2021 and 2022 campaigns rank first and second in program history for passing yards in a single season. His 108 career touchdown passes across both schools also rank 22nd in college football history.

Now, all that experience will be added to a quarterback operation Morris feels comfortable entrusting to his staff.

"That's a position I don't have to worry about," Morris said Tuesday while discussing Oklahoma State's quarterbacks.

Morris will continue calling Oklahoma State's offense, while offensive coordinator Sean Brophy is another coach with extensive familiarity with his system. Brophy previously played quarterback for Morris at Incarnate Word.

Oklahoma State also has Kevin Kilmer working with the quarterbacks after previously spending time with Morris at Texas Tech.

"And we've got Will Rogers, the old quarterback at Mississippi State," Morris said.

Rogers' addition also comes with an interesting schematic connection. He spent four seasons at Mississippi State playing under Mike Leach, who brought his Air Raid offense to Starkville in 2020. Morris played receiver under Leach at Texas Tech from 2005-08 before beginning his own coaching career. That shared background gives Rogers familiarity with many of the offensive concepts and philosophies that have influenced Morris throughout his career.

Rogers became the first true freshman quarterback to start for Leach during his lengthy coaching career and eventually made 40 starts during his four seasons at Mississippi State. After transferring to Washington for his final collegiate season in 2024, Rogers threw for 2,458 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

His playing career is now transitioning into coaching at a program where quarterback development has been one of the defining pieces of Morris' résumé. Morris has coached, developed or recruited a group of quarterbacks that includes Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, Cam Ward, John Mateer, Chandler Morris and current Oklahoma State starter Drew Mestemaker.

Rogers won't be throwing passes for the Cowboys, but adding a former quarterback with nearly 15,000 career passing yards gives Mestemaker and the rest of Oklahoma State's quarterback room another experienced resource.

And given Rogers' background in Leach's Air Raid, there might not be many better offensive systems for him to begin his coaching career in than the one Morris is building in Stillwater.
