Missouri football adds 2 transfers along defensive line

Mizzou has gone to the Sunshine State to add its first two transfers along the defensive line.

Missouri football first added Florida State transfer defensive end Jaden Jones, whose agency, the Business of Athletes, confirmed to the Columbia Daily Tribune on Saturday night that he will sign for the Tigers

On Sunday, Missouri earned a commitment from Miami freshman transfer defensive tackle Donta Simpson.

The Tigers are now up to 14 total transfers in this portal window, which opened Jan. 2 and will remain open for new transfers through Jan. 16.

That end date is only for new entries. Players may still commit to a new school after Jan. 16.

Jones and Sampson mark the first edge rusher and interior defensive line additions, respectively, that Missouri has added in this window.

Jones is a former junior college player at Hutchinson CC in Kansas who spent the past three years in Tallahassee, Florida. He missed the 2024 season with an injury, but played 230 snaps over the 2023 and 2025 campaigns for the Seminoles.

The edge rusher recorded six QB pressures last season and recorded five total tackles. He is listed a 6 foot 5, 240 pounds and is from Montgomery, Alabama.

Missouri needs edge rushers in this portal window. Both of the Tigers’ starters at the position are leaving this offseason, as Damon Wilson II made a somewhat surprising decision to enter the transfer portal, while Zion Young is out of eligibility and likely will be a top-100 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Mizzou is also losing reserve Nate Johnson to Auburn in the portal, and freshman Javion Hilson transferred to Virginia Tech.

The Tigers can return Darris Smith and Langden Kitchen, who were frequent members of the rotation in 2025. Freshman Daeden Hopkins also can return, and the Tigers signed top-ranked JUCO prospect Demarcus Johnson, too.

Simpson just finished his rookie season with Miami, where he played 105 snaps across 10 games for the Hurricanes in the regular season. He announced he would enter the transfer portal Jan. 1, in the middle of the U’s run to the College Football Playoff title game.

The freshmen defensive end is from Hollywood, Florida, and committed to the Canes as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2025. He recorded three QB pressures as a rookie and had three total tackles. Simpson is listed at 6-3, 300 pounds.

Mizzou is losing 2025 starters Chris McClellan and Sterling Webb to eligibility at defensive tackle. The Tigers will return Marquis Gracial as a likely starter, and Jalen Marshall and Sam Williams both will compete for reps in 2026.

Missouri likely will still target another player at both defensive tackle and defensive end in this window.
