Missouri football flips 4-star safety in 2026 recruiting class from Louisville

The fall of flipped commits rolls on.
Missouri football flipped another Class of 2026 recruit on Wednesday, when four-star safety Jayden McGregory announced that he has backed out of his pledge with Louisville and gave a verbal commitment to Eli Drinkwitz’s next recruiting class in Columbia.
McGregory initially committed to Louisville over Mizzou in July. He officially visited Missouri back in early June and was viewed as a top-end target for the Tigers.
The safety is listed at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds and plays his high school football at Valley High in Des Moines, Iowa.
The recruiting service 247Sports lists McGregory as a four-star prospect in its composite rankings. McGregory also checks in as the No. 384-ranked player in his class and the No. 4 prospect out of Iowa in this cycle.
McGregory is the 11th player Mizzou has added to its Class of 2026 since Sept. 25, and eight of those players were either direct flips or recent decommitments from other schools.
Mizzou now has 22 players verbally committed to its 2026 class, meaning it has more than doubled the size of the group this fall.
With McGregory on board, the Tigers now have 247Sports’ No. 23-ranked class in the country. That ranks No. 11 in the SEC.
Defensive back has been an area of emphasis for Mizzou in this cycle. McGregory is the fourth safety and sixth total DB to commit to the Tigers.
Early national signing day for football, when recruits can officially sign to play for a team, is Dec. 3.
