Missouri football has now landed two cornerbacks in the space of 24 hours, and, as of Wednesday afternoon, two cornerbacks from Oregon in this transfer portal window.
Sione Laulea became the third corner to commit to Mizzou in this transfer portal window, announcing his decision Wednesday via his Instagram account. The news was first reported by On3.
Laulea follows his former Oregon teammate and cornerback Jahlil Florence, who was Mizzou’s first commitment of the offseason after the transfer portal opened Jan. 2.
He is also the second corner to commit to the Tigers in the past 24 hours, following Michigan freshman Elijah Dotson’s commitment to Mizzou on Tuesday night.
Laulea has a highly encouraging size for the position at 6’4″, 190 pounds. The Mountain View, California, native spent two seasons at the junior college level with San Mateo College from 2022-23.
The corner missed six games in the 2025 season due to injury. In his six regular-season appearances this past season, he played 115 defensive snaps and recorded two pass breakups and four total tackles.
According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed three catches on 10 passes targeted at his coverage matchup. He only allowed one catch longer than 15 yards in his Oregon career.
In limited reps in 2024, playing 31 defensive snaps, he recorded an interception, two pass breakups, one QB pressure and two tackles.
Laulea played on five different special teams units at Oregon, too.
Mizzou needed corners in this transfer portal window, and the Tigers have now added three players, all of whom look likely to compete for spots in the rotation in 2026.
The Tigers’ top three players at the position — Dreyden Norwood, Toriano Pride Jr. and Stephen Hall, who accounted for more than 90% of the team’s snap share at corner in 2025 — are now out of eligibility.
Mizzou is also losing cornerback depth to the transfer portal, as true freshman Mark Manfred III has transferred to Kentucky and reserve Shamar McNeil has entered the portal.
That leaves the Tigers with Nicholas DeLoach Jr. and Cameron Keys as returners at the position with some experience. Both players are capable of competing for reps next season, but depth was extremely thin. Mizzou added two corners, Jaxson Gates and Ahmod Billins, in its Class of 2026.
The college football transfer portal opened Jan. 2 and will remain open for new entries through Friday, Jan. 16. That is only the final day for players to enter the portal database. Players may still commit to a new school after Jan. 16.
