Despite entering the season ineligible for a bowl game due to FCS-to-FBS restrictions, Missouri State football got in on Saturday night when not enough teams reached six wins. The Bears will close their inaugural FBS season with their inaugural FBS bowl game.
They clinched their spot at the close of the regular season, as Auburn’s loss to Alabama in the Iron Bowl kept the Tigers at 5-7, giving Missouri State an automatic bid despite NCAA restrictions.
The bowl game matchups will be announced on Sunday. Conference USA has tie-ins with eight bowl games this season. Here’s a look at where Missouri State could play:

Missouri State football lands in StaffDNA Cure Bowl
The StaffDNA Cure Bowl is held in Orlando, Fla., on Wednesday, December 17, and matches up teams from Conference USA, the American Athletic Conference, the Mid-American Conference, and the Sun Belt.
Missouri State football travels to 68 Ventures Bowl
The 68 Ventures Bowl is held in Mobile, Ala. and will also be on December 17. It will choose its teams from C-USA, the MAC, and the SBC.
Missouri State football heads to Myrtle Beach Bowl
The Myrtle Beach Bowl is held on Friday, December 19, in Conway, S.C. and also takes its teams from C-USA, the MAC, and the SBC.
Missouri State football goes far for Bush’s Boca Raton Bowl of Beans
Another bowl game in Florida, the Bush’s Boca Raton Bowl of Beans is held in Boca Raton, Fla., on Tuesday, December 23. It will choose its teams from C-USA, the AAC, the MAC, the SBC, and the Mountain West.
Missouri State football chosen for New Orleans Bowl
The New Orleans Bowl is scheduled to be held at the Caesars Superdome on December 23. It will choose teams from C-USA and the SBC.
Missouri State heads down for Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl
The Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl is held in Frisco, Texas, and is the third and final bowl game on December 23. It will pick its teams from C-USA, the AAC, the MWC, the MAC, and the SBC.
Missouri State goes west to Isleta New Mexico Bowl
The Isleta New Mexico Bowl will be held on Saturday, December 27, and will pit an MWC team against a team from either C-USA, the AAC, the MAC, or the Sun Belt.
Missouri State stays close to home in Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl
The closest bowl game to the Bears is in Shreveport, La., on Tuesday, December 30. The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl chooses its teams from the Big 12 and C-USA.
