Many dreams come true, and some have silver linings
I live for my dream, and a pocketful of Dots

  • The Husky Football recruiting class keeps getting stronger. The DB portion of the class was one of the slowest to build momentum, but it has turned around in a big way. CB Censere Gaylord, a California native who is attending IMG Academy in Florida, committed to the Dawgs over the weekend. Gaylord is the highest-ranked recruit in the class by most of the ratings services. At 6’0”, he has good size but isn’t the sort of super-stretch DB that Ryan Walters often prioritized. Gaylord’s coverage skills are just that good. A few years removed from the lineage of CBs like Sidney Jones, Byron Murphy, and Trent McDuffie, Gaylord could be part of a great renaissance.

  • Christian Caple adds some analysis on Gaylord’s commitment. He points out that Gaylord was part of the big weekend full of official visits in March. The Dawgs are up to 11 commitments from that OV weekend, so the strategy is definitely paying off.

  • Lumen Field got lots of buzz over the summer for its playing surface. Due to its status as a host for the World Cup, the stadium installed a natural grass surface, which got rave reviews and truly looked much better. Husky Stadium is also getting a new playing surface before the start of the season. Unfortunately, this one is not natural grass, though the refreshed turf should still be a marginal improvement for the players.

  • Dawgman continued its series examining the early success rates for UW’s outgoing transfers. This edition looks at the defense and special teams transfers who left Montlake. Deven Bryant remains an interesting name to follow after he surprisingly landed at USC. With a very young LB corps, Bryant may have the inside track to a major role with the Trojans.

  • Husky Women’s Basketball continues to fill out its coaching staff. Tina Langley announced the hiring of Patrick Bowlin to the staff. Bowlin joins from Wisconsin- Green Bay.
