The Bobcats’ offense, top 10 nationally in scoring this season, was held to just three scores, but the defense forced four turnovers in the 21-13 victory over Yale last weekend.
Running back Adam Jones led the MSU offense with 107 yards and a touchdown, while Buck Buchanan Award finalist Caden Dowler recorded an interception in his fourth straight game, according to MSU Sports Information.
SFA took down Abilene Christian last weekend 41-34 in its second-round win as both teams combined for over 900 yards of offense.
Quarterback Sam Vidlak, who played for the University of Montana in 2023, threw for 357 yards and three scores in the win over Abilene Christian.
Vidlak was named the Southland Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year, and Erik Gray was honored as the league’s top offensive lineman.
Friday’s matchup is the first all-time in the FCS playoffs between Montana State and SFA.
