Morton offensive lineman commits to Illinois football

Soren Fifer will stay close to home for college football.
The Morton junior announced on Thursday, May 14 his commitment to play for Illinois.
The 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive tackle had received scholarship offers from Iowa, Illinois State, Northwestern, Liberty, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Duke, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Oregon, Wisconsin and North Carolina.
“After much thought and consideration I have decided to continue my education and football career at the University of Illinois!” Fifer posted. “Thank you to every coach who has recruited me and helped me I wish you the best.”
Fifer was a 2025 Journal Star all-area first-team offensive lineman and all-Mid-Illini Conference first-team selection. He helped anchor an offensive line that produced 4,271 total yards and 53 total TDs, including 2,079 rushing yards and 33 TDs on the ground during the 2025 campaign.
