Jordan Lynch has been named the ALL‑USA Midwest Region Football Coach of the Year after guiding Chicago Mount Carmel to yet another historic finish.
The Caravan completed a dominant 14‑0 campaign, capped by their fourth straight Illinois state championship and the fifth under Lynch’s leadership since he took over the program in 2018. The title, secured with a 20‑3 win over Oswego in the Class 8A final, Illinois’ largest division, also marked the program’s 17th state crown.
Lynch’s 2025 squad embodied the toughness and precision that have become trademarks of his tenure. Behind a balanced offense led by quarterback Emmet Dowling and a relentless defense that delivered game‑changing plays throughout the postseason, the Caravan once again proved nearly impossible to crack.
Before becoming one of the most successful high school coaches in the country, Lynch was a star in his own right. The former Northern Illinois quarterback was a two‑time All‑American, a Heisman Trophy finalist and the 2013 MAC Most Valuable Player, setting multiple NCAA rushing records for a quarterback. His professional career included time with the Chicago Bears and a Grey Cup–winning touchdown run with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2015.
Now, with five state titles and a four‑peat on his resume, Lynch’s legacy at Mount Carmel continues to grow.
Along with the Coaches of the Year from the other four regions, Lynch is a finalist for the national ALL-USA Football Team Coach of the Year Award. That All-America team will be announced on Dec. 30.
The Midwest region includes athletes and coaches from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
