Michigan State football has beaten out a few of their conference peers for a safety prospect from Illinois.
Henry Sakalas of La Grange Park, Ill. has committed to Michigan State following his recent official visit with the Spartans this past weekend. Sakalas was scheduled to take official visits to Illinois and Nebraska in the coming weeks, but he has now locked in his commitment with the Spartans.
Sakalas is listed as a three-star safety, with a recruiting rating of 87 in 247Sports' system. He ranks as the No. 87 safety and No. 855 overall prospect in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports composite.
Along with offers from Michigan State, Illinois and Nebraska, Sakalas holds notable offers from Minnesota, West Virginia, Air Force, San Diego State, Toledo and New Mexico.
