MWCConnection Recruiting Roundup 3-30-26. Discussing North Dakota State.

It’s another week of the Recruiting Roundup.
One recruiting topic that has been on my mind is how North Dakota State is preparing to make the jump from FCS to FBS football and the number of scholarship players they will have on their roster for the 2026 season.
FCS football teams are allowed to award 63 scholarships, which can be distributed among 105 players. Meanwhile, FBS schools can have a maximum of 105 scholarship players on the roster, nearly doubling the scholarship limit.
Currently, the Bison roster has 103 players on their roster. While not all players may be on scholarship, it does provide a blueprint for where things stand. It’s fair to assume that many players on partial scholarships will be bumped up to full-scholarship status for 2026. The exact number of available scholarships is not currently known, and no Bison coaches could be reached for comment, but it’s a fair assumption that they won’t quite get to 105 by the start of 2026. It doesn’t mean they won’t keep adding, and it’s worth watching who they add following spring ball, when they can target remaining needs.
NDSU is also preparing for their future classes, and have been extremely active recruiting the 2027 class. This week alone, the Bison added six new players in this young cycle. Currently, they have a top 100 class, and it will be interesting to see where they end up on signing day. They had the best class far and away among the teams we are tracking.

Recruiting Calendar:
Starting today and going through mid-April, we are in a quiet period. On-campus contact is permitted, while off-campus contact is limited to text, calls, and DMs.
Next College Student Athlete says:
The NCAA defines the quiet period as a time when “a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents off the college campus and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high school.” To break it down, the NCAA Quiet Period is a time you can talk to college coaches in-person on their college campus. However, the coach is not allowed to watch athletes compete in-person, visit their school, talk to them at their home—or talk to them anywhere outside of the college campus. Coaches can still text, call, email or direct message coaches during this time.
Commitment Spotlight:
OL Jack Tabbert (North Dakota State)
“The connection that I have made with the whole coaching staff has made me know that I can trust them, and they have made it known they want me at NDSU. Along with their track record of developing NFL-level offensive linemen. Another big reason why I chose them is because I know they are the hardest working guys in college football and that’s what I want to be a part of.“
DL Dorian Ward (North Dakota State)
“First, I would say the biggest thing was the culture that I felt from each of my visits there; everything about it was exactly what I felt I wanted in my college experience. The next thing was the relationships I had built with the coaches and people there. Because they had been recruiting me the longest and shown the most interest in me, it really felt like they cared for me and wanted the best for me and my future. Also basically everything else I wanted in a football program was checked off by them too, like with them now being FBS or just being known as a winning program, it was all what I wanted!”
