It’s another week of the Recruiting Roundup.

This week, we are back to our monthly Mountain West rankings, with the first round of tier rankings added on as well. Tier rankings are a different way to look at the rankings and can show how close or far apart teams are from one another. Arguments can be made to flip the rankings of teams in the same tier.

Otherwise, the recruiting action continues to be mild at best. It’s worth noting July often has other things going on. For one, many true freshmen arrive on campus during this time, and focus shifts to the current roster to get them ready for the season. Also, this is usually the time of year that coaches are able to take time away and go on vacation before fall camp starts in August.

That being said, offers are minimal (2), and there are only a handful of commitments. Colorado State continues its recruiting hot streak, adding another player to this cycle. The Rams are on the cover photo this week.

Recruiting Calendar:

Starting tomorrow and going through the rest of the summer, we are now in a dead period. All in-person contact of any kind is off-limits. But that doesn’t mean recruiting stops; it just slows down as coaches focus on the start of the season. As always, it is okay for texts, calls, and DMs.

Next College Student Athlete says:

The most restrictive of all the recruiting periods is the NCAA Dead Period. During the dead period, coaches may not have any in-person contact with recruits and/or their parents. In other words, coaches are not allowed to talk to recruits at their college campus, the athlete’s school, an athletic camp or even the grocery store.

While the term “dead period” makes it seem like all recruiting stops during this time, that’s actually not the case. Athletes and coaches are still allowed to communicate via phone, email, social media and other digital communication channels. While NCAA Division 1 programs are prohibited from conducting any in-person recruiting, D1 college coaches can still contact student-athletes via digital forms of communication during the dead period.

Commitment Spotlight:

WR Kentorion King: Colorado State

“I committed to Colorado State because it’s a great program. My first time in Fort Collins, it felt like home. They develop great athletes, plus the coaches and I have a good relationship. And with the coaches CSU has now, they will do something CSU hasn’t done in forever and I want to be part of that. Go Rams!”

DB Tyrece McMillan: UTEP

“I committed to UTEP because of the culture, the coaches, and the city. The coaches made me feel welcomed and loved, so that’s what pushed my decision; it was a no-brainer.”
