Myels Smith Is Texas A&M’s Hidden 2027 Recruiting Monster

Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is loaded with enough five-star talent to dominate every headline, but Myels Smith may be the Aggies commit nobody should overlook.
While elite prospects Mark Matthews and Kamarui Dorsey headline Mike Elko’s No. 1-ranked class, Smith has rapidly developed into one of the nation’s most dangerous interior defensive linemen.

The four-star Inglewood, California, standout has climbed to No. 45 nationally in the latest Rivals300 rankings, turning himself from a major pickup into a potential cornerstone.
And Smith doesn’t appear interested in restarting the recruiting circus.
Washington, Nebraska, California and USC were among the programs pursuing him, but Texas A&M separated itself through its emphasis on development and the attention Smith received from the entire coaching staff.
He shut down his recruitment late last month and remains expected to sign with the Aggies during the early signing period.
That’s a significant win for Elko.
Texas A&M already owns six five-star commitments among its 26 pledges, but championship rosters aren’t built solely through recruiting stars.
They’re built by landing players with elite physical traits, violent production and room to become even more disruptive once they enter a college strength program.
Smith checks every box.
The powerful defensive tackle recorded 91 tackles, 30 tackles for loss and 10 sacks during his most recent season.
He also added four pass breakups and a forced fumble, eye-popping production for a player who does most of his work in the most congested area of the field.
Smith isn’t merely occupying blockers. He’s destroying plays before they develop.
His combination of size, power and athleticism gives Texas A&M another versatile defensive lineman who can collapse the pocket, control running lanes and create favorable matchups for the Aggies’ edge rushers.
The development plan may be just as important as the opportunity.
Smith was reportedly drawn to Texas A&M’s multiple defensive line coaches and the program’s focus on preparing players for the next level.
With Elijah Robinson and Tony Jerod-Eddie involved in his development, the Aggies believe Smith could reach his highest level during his second or third college season.
He’ll also join four-star defensive lineman Elijah Patmon in a future interior rotation built around strength, explosiveness and serious upside.

Matthews and Dorsey may carry the biggest rankings.
But when Texas A&M’s 2027 class finally reaches Kyle Field, Smith could become the player offensive coordinators fear most.
