The Georgia Bulldogs might earn a major recruit commitment on May 15. That’s when five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews will announce his commitment, according to Hayes Fawcett. He will choose among Georgia, Miami, Texas A&M, and LSU.

Matthews is a five-star offensive tackle from the class of 2027. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound tackle prospect plays high school football for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is the No. 3 overall recruit and No. 1 offensive tackle recruit in the nation.

Winning this commitment would jump start Georgia’s recruiting class. The Bulldogs currently have the No. 31 recruiting class in the nation despite earning a commitment from running back Kemon Spell, the No. 7 recruit in the nation. Part of that is due to recently losing five-star cornerback Donte Wright to Miami and four-star cornerback Jerry Outhouse to UCLA.

Despite the lack of depth in the overall class, Georgia has recruited heavily in the offensive line. They’ve secured commitments from four-star Kelsey Adams, along with three-stars Abram Eisenhower and Ty Johnson. Still, getting Matthews to come to Georgia would be huge.

Unfortunately, Georgia might be behind in Matthews’ recruitment. 247Sports has logged two Crystal Ball predictions, one for him to go to Miami (March 9, 2026) and another for him to go to Texas A&M (May 12, 2026). Rivals believes that Texas A&M has the advantage through their prediction model.
