The nation's top ranked recruit is reportedly transferring to Georgia high school powerhouse Buford for his senior season. Five-star defensive tackle Jalen Brewster is committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders and is transferring from Cedar Hill High School in Texas to Burford.

Brewster, a member of the class of 2027, is the No. 1 recruit in the country, the No. 1 defensive tackle and the No. 1 player in Georgia. The five-star has been committed to Texas Tech since October.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle's decision to transfer to Buford could be a game-changer for the highest level of Georgia high school football. Brewster's transfer now means that the Georgia Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart have landed a commitment from just one top-10 recruit in the Peach State in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Georgia has the nation's No. 9 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle with 20 commitments. Meanwhile, Texas Tech has the No. 8 recruiting class with 19 commitments.

Brewster joins LaDamion Guyton (class of 2026) as the latest Peach State five-star to commit to Texas Tech, who is a name, image and likeness powerhouse.

“Transferring to Buford came down to what was best for my future,” Brewster said to Rivals. “This move allows me to reach my goal of graduating in December while staying on track academically and athletically. I’m grateful for my time at Cedar Hill and excited for what’s ahead at Buford.”

Brewster is not the only five-star to transfer to Buford in recent memory. Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola transferred to Buford as a member of the class of 2024.
