The college football transfer portal doesn’t officially open until Jan. 2. Despite that, more than 1,100 players have already announced their intent to enter, according to On3.
One of the most intriguing players set to enter is former Kansas State Wildcats wide receiver Jayce Brown. This season, he appeared in 10 games, racking up 41 receptions, 712 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 116 yards and another score.
With one more year of eligibility left, Brown is expected to receive strong interest. He’s ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver set to be available in the portal. He has already been linked to one team that was recently eliminated from the College Football Playoff.
The No. 7 seed Texas A&M Aggies fell to the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes 10-3 at home on Saturday. The program’s first CFP appearance lasted just one game. Now officially in the offseason, On3’s Pete Nakos linked the Aggies to Brown.
“Texas A&M is a school of note at this point for Jayce Brown,” Nakos wrote. “The Aggies are set to lose KC Concepcion to the NFL draft.”
The Aggies had a solid passing game in 2025. Among the SEC, they ranked sixth in passing yards per game (259.8). However, as Nakos mentioned, they’re set to lose Concepcion, who in 2025 led the team in receptions (61), yards (919) and touchdowns (nine).
Texas A&M’s recent history suggests it will be active again this year, having added 14 players in the transfer portal last offseason. Pursuing an experienced receiver such as Brown could immediately address a potential loss in the passing game.
