Nation’s No. 3 QB Announces Commitment to College Football Powerhouse

One of the top recruits in the 2027 high school recruiting class has announced his commitment.
According to On3/Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, four-star quarterback Israel Abrams has committed to Miami. He chose Miami over Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, and Purdue.
Abrams is the third-ranked quarterback in the 2027 class, per Rivals. He’s also a four-star recruit and the second-best recruit in Illinois, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Both services list him as a top 45 overall recruit in the country.
This is a big recruiting win for Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes now have the seventh-best 2027 recruiting class in the nation, per 247Sports. Abrams is listed as their highest recruit.

The Hurricanes are fresh off a trip to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, a game they lost 27-21 to the Indiana Hoosiers. They had a chance to win the game at the end of the fourth quarter, but Carson Beck threw an interception, sealing the win for the Hoosiers.
Miami will try to make another run at the title in the 2026 season, this time with Darian Mensah at quarterback. Mensah transferred to Miami after helping Duke win the ACC Championship this season. He finished the year with 3,973 yards through the air, 34 touchdowns, and only six interceptions.
Cristobal will be entering his fifth season as Miami’s head coach and has compiled a 35-19 record since taking over the program ahead of the 2022 season. He spent the prior five seasons at Oregon, compiling a 35-13 record.
Cristobal also coached at Florida International for six seasons, racking up a 27-47 record. He has a 97-79 overall record as a head coach.
