Nation’s No. 4 safety Giovanni Tuggle commits to Ole Miss: “It just felt like home to me”

Winder (Ga.) Barrow Rivals300 2028 safety Giovanni Tuggle has committed to Ole Miss following a visit to Oxford over the weekend. The blue-chip junior chose to play for head coach Pete Golding and company over LSU, Florida State and several others.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Tuggle becomes commit No. 4 for the Rebels in the 2028 class. The Rivals Industry ranks him as the No. 4 safety in the country and No. 63 prospect overall.

“It just felt like home to me,” Tuggle said. “They got a good coach, a very good head coach, a defensive coach. He’s a good person.”

The four-star Tuggle was blown away by the scene in Oxford. He looks forward to playing in those type of environments moving forward.

“It was good. They showed me a lot of love. The atmosphere was amazing. I didn’t know it was going to be like that for my first game.”

Tuggle is the second pledge for Ole Miss since the weekend joining fellow four-star safety Braylen Bedford. He also had offers from the likes of Ohio State, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, Oregon and Clemson.

“This was my third time going to Ole Miss,” Tuggle said. “Me and Coach (Marcus) Woodson sat down and the conversation has been the same. He’s been talking about about his three-year plan for me. How they coach their defense, I like how the defensive players move around and the way they coach their players.”
