A Nebraska assistant has accepted a head coaching job in Texas high school football. Special Teams assistant Josh Martin has been hired at Liberty Christian in Argyle, Texas.
Martin replaces former NFL All-Pro tight end Jason Witten as head coach. Witten left to take the tight ends coaching job with the Oklahoma Sooners.
Martin originally joined Matt Rhule's Nebraska coaching staff as a special teams analyst in 2023. He also served as a tight ends coach while coaching the Huskers.
Liberty Christian finished the 2025 season with an 8-4 record. In five years as head coach, Witten compiled a record of 46-15 with two Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools State championships (2023 & 2024).
