Nebraska is set to begin bowl practices on Monday, but will do so without a key offensive component. Quarterback TJ Lateef will be absent from practices as he continues to recover from an injury.

The quarterback suffered a hamstring injury in a 40-16 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was able to play through it, but struggled throughout the rest of the game. The quarterback threw for 722 yards and four touchdowns on the year, after taking over for an injured Dylan Raiola.

The Huskers are set to return to a bowl game for the second straight season. Rhule indicated that the program will handle Lateef carefully with bowl game practices getting underway. He expects him to play in the game, but noted that the quarterback will not be available for the start of practices, per Husker247’s Brian Christopherson (subscription needed).

The quarterback situation will undoubtedly be one worth monitoring as the bowl game gets announced and game preparation gets underway. It will be interesting to see who Nebraska puts under center for the game as they look to build momentum heading into the offseason.
