Nebraska (7-6) concluded the 2025 season in its second straight bowl game, facing No. 15 Utah (11-2) in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl. Despite a strong first quarter, the Huskers quickly collapsed, falling to the Utes 44-22 to end the season on a three-game losing streak and being outscored 121-48 in that stretch.
Nebraska scored on its first two drives, moving downfield and punching it in to go up 14-7 to wrap up the first quarter. However, Utah kept pace with the offense and once it shut down the Huskers' offense, the game became clear. The Utes delivered 37 straight points, leaving Nebraska in the dust.
The Huskers suffered five three-and-outs across the next six drives following their two touchdowns. Utah, meanwhile, never slowed down on offense, posting 535 total yards and six touchdowns. The Utes, going against their main source of offense, delivered big in the air, with Devon Dampier tallying 310 yards on 19 completions and 31 attempts. Utah did rack up 225 rushing yards, 148 coming from Dampier.
TJ Lateef posted 182 passing yards, but only 22 rushing yards. The true freshman threw 15-of-28 with one touchdown and one interception. Mekhi Nelson picked up most of the Huskers' rushing yards, earning 88 on 12 carries, and broke out a 38-yard touchdown run on the opening drive.
Nebraska now enters the offseason with much to sort out, following the firing of defensive coordinator John Butler, offensive line coach Donovan Raiola and the departures of quarterback Dylan Raiola and running back Emmett Johnson.
