Nebraska kick returner and running back Kenneth Williams entered the transfer portal on Thursday morning. Williams and the return game had been a bright spot for the Huskers during the 2025 season.

One of the highlights of his season was returning a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown against Northwestern. It was the program’s first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2017.

Williams was named Big Ten co-special Teams player of the week for his work in that game. He finished the year as an All-Big Ten honoree as a return specialist.

Williams’s story is fascinating: he joined the team as a walk-on and earned a scholarship after his performance against the Maryland Terrapins. He had an 85-yard kick return to the Maryland 10-yard line in that game.

This is another move in what has been a busy couple of days for the program. Several players are coming and going as the roster for the 2026 season takes shape.
