One of Nebraska’s top linebacker targets has committed to a Big Ten rival. Recruit Matthew Brady committed to Michigan State on Wednesday afternoon.
Brady is a three-star prospect from Bloomington, Illinois. He was scheduled to visit Lincoln on June 12. Michigan State beat out multiple Big Ten schools for his commitment, including Nebraska, Illinois and Minnesota.
Nebraska’s class of 2027 has 11 commitments and ranks 19th nationally and 7th in the Big Ten, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Michigan State has eight commitments and ranks 51st nationally and 14th in the conference.
Brady was one of Nebraska’s top linebacker targets in 2027, and losing out to a Big Ten rival stings. The Huskers have several other linebackers targeted but missing out on a priority defensive target will force a readjustment in the team’s recruiting plans.
