Nebraska football quarterback TJ Lateef has been named one of the Manning Award Stars of the Week. This was announced on social media on Wednesday.
The Manning Award is given to the best quarterback in the country and is the only postseason award to include bowl game performances.
The freshman quarterback certainly made a statement in the Huskers' victory over the UCLA Bruins on Saturday. He went 13-of-15 in the game, throwing for 205 yards and three touchdowns. He was a catalyst for the offense on a night when the program faced challenges playing on the road.
It will be interesting to see how the quarterback position plays out over the next couple of weeks. Lateef will get additional chances to showcase his talents, with the Penn State Nittany Lions the next team on the schedule. He played at a high level on Saturday, and now the rest of the country is taking notice.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-3, 4-3) retake the field on Saturday, Nov. 22, when they travel to Pennsylvania to face the Penn State Nittany Lions (3-6, 0-6) in Happy Valley. The kickoff time and TV network have not yet been determined.
